St Bede’s College offers a comprehensive music program for students.
Classroom music is offered at all year levels including the subjects of VCE Music Performance and VET/ VCE Music Industry. With extensive facilities such as a music keyboard lab, permanent rehearsal spaces and recording studios with state of the art technology, students are able to acquire valuable skills that can be used in the wider community or pursued at the tertiary level.
The College also boasts an extensive co-curricular music program which includes instrumental / vocal tuition and a significant band and ensemble program.
Ensembles include the Year 7 Training Band Program, Junior Concert Band, Senior Wind Symphony, College Big Band, Jazz Vocal group, Drum line, Guitar ensemble and other smaller ensembles such as brass band. Students are also encouraged to use the College’s rehearsal spaces to rehearse in student – formed rock bands.
Regular performances are given by each ensemble at a range of school and external events including performances at festivals such as the Victorian Schools Music Festival and Generations In Jazz (Mt. Gambier).
