The Humanities faculty incorporates the subject areas of History, Geography, Politics and Commerce. Within these disciplines students develop an understanding about the past, learn about the actions of individuals, organisations and governments and build a knowledge of the world around them. Humanities assists students in developing critical thinking, writing and analytical skills.
Junior years – Years 7 and 8
- Students complete a compulsory semester length unit in History and Geography.
- Topics include:
- History – The Ancient to the Modern world (60 000 BC – 1750), Civilisations (Egypt, China, Rome), Vikings and the Spanish conquest of the Americas.
- Geography – mapping skills, fieldwork, weather, livability and migration.
Middle years – Years 9 and 10
- Students complete a compulsory semester length unit in History and Geography.
- Topics include:
- History – The making of the Modern World and Australia (1750-1945), Federation, WWI, Indigenous Civil Rights, Migration and WWII.
- Geography – mapping skills, fieldwork, biomes, land degradation and wellbeing
